    Existence of a 5th Dimension | Did Physics Just Prove?

    We have reached a world where as soon as you enter, you can see the back side of your palm or imagine that a strange person is standing there. Now as soon as you touch him and as soon as he turns back to look at you, his body parts start rotating inside and outside. Look exactly like a cube rotating in this 5D space time. It is very difficult to imagine and study the fifth dimension and I know you are not able to imagine it so easily, but let us start from the basic dimension itself, that is, basic geometry.

    What is Euclid’s theory?

    It is about 300 BC when the greatest geometer of Greek times Euclid talked about 2D and 3D shapes in his book Euclid’s Elements and from there this concept started for the next 2000 years. This was going to be used all over the world, but after using this concept for 2000 years, the world suddenly turned its back on Euclid’s theorem of dimensions. Well, why?

    According to Euclid’s geometry, the path created after joining point A to point B with a straight line will be the shortest path, even if both the points are on Earth. But when for the first time humans were circling the Earth with their ships, they saw that a straight line is not the shortest path to go from one point to another. This means that Euclid’s explanation was applicable only to a plane surface. We could not apply it to a curved surface.

    Like in this image, see, for a plane surface, a straight line is the shortest path, but for a curved surface, a straight line is not the shortest path. Then to solve this problem and for curved surfaces a new theory was invented by Geology to study shortest path on curved surfaces after which he continued his research and finally at the end of 19th century he presented a new concept to the world, the fourth dimension but friends here comes a catch according to scientists whether the fourth dimension is space or fifth dimension space time we can see only three dimensions of space.

    Because in the 4d universe we are a part of we can see only the lower dimensions than us for example if there is a 2d object then this object can see only forward, backward and left and right now if I keep a 3d object in front of this object then this 2d object will be able to see only the shadow of that 3d object and it will not be able to see the whole object. But if I change the whole angle, I mean if I see this whole scene from the perspective of a third dimension object, then that 3d object will be able to see the 2d world as well as the 1d world, so does it mean that 3d beings like us will never be able to imagine a 4d object?

    Well, copy and paste them anywhere on the screen and connect them, what will be the form? A line, that is our first dimension. Now if I copy and paste the line and connect its points in this way, then a rectangle will be formed which is 2d. Now if we take two rectangles and connect their corners, then we will get a cube which is a 3d figure. And now tell me how you will make a cube in 4d space. Exactly, in 4d space, if we take two cubes and connect their vertices, then we will get something like this.

    The concept of the Tesseract also known as the 4D hypercube, provides a way to visualize the fourth dimension, even though it is difficult to fully grasp. Understanding higher dimensions is becoming essential for exploring advanced scientific concepts such as dark matter and gravity.

    Did Physics Just Prove the Existence of a 5th Dimension?

    Strong & Weak Nuclear Force, Gravity and Electromagnetism

    When scientists began searching for dark matter, they stumbled upon the fifth dimension. This discovery revealed that dark matter could be explained as ordinary fermion particles that were transferred from our dimension to the fifth dimension during the beginning of the universe. About a century ago, the Big Bang theory proposed that the four fundamental forces the strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force, gravity, and electromagnetism were unified at the time of the Big Bang. Scientists found that it was relatively easy to unify electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force, but gravity remained elusive.

    Einstien's Theory of relativity

    Enter Einstein, whose general theory of relativity transformed our understanding of space-time. Working with European physicists Theodor Kaluza and Oskar Klein, Einstein extended his mathematical theory to include a fifth dimension. Their pioneering work suggested that gravity and electromagnetic forces could be unified in this higher dimension.

    What Kaluza-Klein theory describes?

    According to the Kaluza-Klein theory, when ordinary particles collide with enormous energy, they can generate particles that jump from our four-dimensional universe into the fifth dimension. This bounce causes these particles to gain mass, creating gravity, a phenomenon that cannot be observed in our dimension. Scientists have coined the term “gravito” for such particles entities that influence gravity but remain invisible to us.

    So where does electromagnetism come from? Recent research by physicists Adrian Carmona, Javier Kalin, and Matthias Neubert has explored this connection. They hypothesized that if we use an electromagnet to lift a heavy object, it would show how the electromagnetic force can overcome gravity. They extended this idea to suggest that a significant portion of electromagnetism, or light, could exist in higher dimensions and interact with gravitons.

    Did Physics Just Prove the Existence of a 5th Dimension? Carmona and his team discovered that what they initially thought was a gravitational field was actually dark matter, influenced by gravity in the fifth dimension. This dark matter consists of fermion particles from our universe that, through high energy collisions, entered the fifth dimension and gained significant mass by interacting with the Higgs field, thereby increasing the gravitational force in the universe.

    Interestingly, this realization suggests that dark matter is simply ordinary matter operating in the fifth dimension, invisible to us but contributing to the gravity of the universe. If we could build a particle accelerator larger than the current Large Hadron Collider, we could even open a portal to the fifth dimension by colliding ordinary fermions at high intensity.

    Existence of a 5th Dimension

    Seen from a broader perspective, this scientific theory aligns with interesting mythological interpretations. For example, in Hindu mythology, the universe is divided into three realms: Swarg Lok (heaven), Bhulok (earth), and Patal Lok (underworld) – overseen by different gods in different dimensions. Brahma governs time, which represents the fourth dimension, while Vishnu is believed to set the rules for matter and energy, perhaps pointing to higher dimensions.

    Although these mythological stories are not scientific explanations, they offer a fascinating perspective for observing the complexity of the universe. Ultimately, exploring higher dimensions not only advances our scientific understanding, but also enriches our conceptual perspectives, combining science with imaginative thinking.
